1. They correct all the things you say wrong.

I initially called this the "long stick thingy" because I had no idea, what so ever, what to call this part of the sport. Of course my track friends all laughed when they heard this come out of my mouth and then I was politely corrected.

2. They carry muscle rolling things like every where they go.

I had no idea what this thing was at first and then I saw my roommate rolling it all over her quads. Honestly it looks like a rolling pin for your thighs but I guess you can use it on most muscles in the body and it feels really good! Get yourself one if you don't already own one.

3. They drink gallons of water a day.

When I agreed to a new roommate I had no idea that I was going to be getting this water drinking machine. Our room was covered in water bottles all the time, and I thank her for that because it got me to drink more water too!

4. You'll catch yourself getting coaxed into eating healthy and working out.

Do you really want that extra slice of pizza? Sure, but that means more gym time with my friends! No, it's not that bad but I definitely have found myself going for healthier options and working out more.

5. They'll ask you to do laundry with them more frequently because of all the running clothes they go through.

My roommate's laundry accumulates so fast! It's usually just loads and loads of track clothing. I mean that's never a problem though, because she had another drawer stuffed with more track outfits. Besides, our laundry trips are fun! I may not always have laundry to do but I always enjoy going with her.

6. You'll be jealous of their toned EVERYTHING.

I remember first meeting my track friends and seeing how toned their bodies are. I mean look at those thighs, arms, their stomach?! I get jealous sometimes, but I understand that they've put a lot of time and effort into their bodies.

7. You'll catch them watching track all the time but you, yourself, don't understand why it's entertaining.

I'll be in the other room or not paying attention and then hear cheering from my track friends. First thought I have is, "Oh is the game on?" thinking that their watching football, basketball, hockey, etc. but then I realize it's track. These girls love their track, even on tv!

8. They get super excited over new spikes

I guess this is no different than me, being a softball girl, getting excited over a new bat or glove. Every player has those little things that excites them, whether it's the equipment or part of the game.

9. They have abs, which amazes you.

The amount of core some track runners do is crazy! I had no idea that they needed so much and abs are the result of it all. One of my track friends is a pole vaulter and she always flashes her abs around, and she should! She should be proud of them.

10. You wonder how they handle all the practices, meets, and school work.

These two lovely ladies are college freshman that balance track practice, workouts, class, homework, and jobs. I am amazed at the lengths they go for track and how they accomplish it all with such little time. I am so proud of my two little track girls!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
