If you're anything like me home is where your heart is. After being away for almost a year I am finally back into the place I called home for so many years. As much as I wish I was already set in a career making loads of money and able to have a place of my own I'm glad to be able to have such a loving place to fall back into. Moving back home may have its up and down but it's always going to be a safe place.

1. You begin to save money

Here's the great news, your mom still goes grocery shopping and still loves when you tag along and guess what else. She still won't notice when you sneak toothpaste or candy bags into the shopping cart.

2. Your laundry magically gets done

If your mom is anything like mine she has a lot of free time, and if she's really anything like mine she can't stand to see the laundry climb the walls of your bathroom. So, she takes is on herself. Thanks mom

3. The food is cooked

Living away from home typically means you have to find your own way of meals. This means cooking which I am not good at other than the typical box of mac & cheese and PB&J. Coming home means home cooked meals with actually food groups.

4. You feel more comfortable than ever before

Having roommates and living with people other than your parents is great. You may even get close enough with the people in your house to no longer care about appearance but there is always some part of you that is conscience of it. Home means pants are optional and you can roll out of bed and down to the fridge looking however scary way you woke up.

5. You may realize why you moved away in the first place

Freedom is different from the freedom you have living at home. While you were away your mom probably found her own freedom a lot nicer while you were away and she also probably has a new way of tidying the house which she expects you to do 4 times a week. P.s mom, this was not missed

6. Reminiscing is real

Being back in your bedroom is comforting and happy, the mess you left in the closet is not. You will find yourself one night sitting within the mess on the closet floor looking through old photos and birthday cards, calling people you haven't seen in a while and finding out they're doing this same thing last time you checked.

7. You now live with the handy man

Living away from you parents means that when something breaks, or even something as simple as a light bulb burning out means that you have to fix it yourself. Now that you're home and have a dad that is a professional handy man is a lot more comforting

8. Being sick becomes okay

Being sick sucks, being sick without your mom sucks a lot more let's be honest. Being catered to with love and warm tea makes being sick possibly a tad enjoyable.

9. Me time is all the time

You learn a lot about yourself most when your able to be alone with yourself

10. You remember what you loved about being home

Home is truly where the heart is and mine has always been at home.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
