A mother-daughter relationship is already one of a kind, but it takes on a whole other dimension when she's not only your mom but also your best friend.

1. You text each other about the most random things.

You never know what to expect when you get a text from her. It could be anything from just her checking into her text screaming about how she was the 8th caller on the radio station and won a free pizza.

2. You have similar taste in men.

You often find yourself commenting to each other about the cute boy working the cash register at the grocery store. “Ooh, do you see that cashier over there, I think he’s flirting with you. He’s cute.”

3. You have a series on Netflix you have started together.

You only watch it with her and if one of you goes ahead in the series without the other, there will be hell to pay. But once you start the day watching it with her, you can't stop.

4. You are completely honest with each other.

You have no shame in telling each other when an outfit looks hideous. You’re also the go to “is there anything in my teeth” person on all occasions. And she’ll be totally straight up with you if she doesn’t like one of your friends, and you do the same to her.

5. You know what the other one wants to drink on a night out (or in).

You are both completely confident that you could order each others drinks on a night out. “Yes, she’s going to have the house cab and I’ll ha-“ “She’ll have a vodka cranberry.”

6. You have no filter around her.

You say whatever comes to mind whenever when you are with her. Besides, she’s not allowed to judge you, she raised you.

7. You know exactly what to get her when Christmas rolls around.

You’ve been shopping so many times together, it would be impossible not to pick up on her “oh well this is very nice, I like this” hints. And pretty much anything you like, she likes too, so it’s not hard to find the perfect gift.

8. You hang out with the same people.

You may be 30 years apart in age but when her friends come over, you join the party and when your friends come over, she joins yours. If my house is your house, my friends are your friends too.

9. You make some stupid decisions together sometimes.

You encourage each other to do silly things just to keep it interesting on your daily endeavors. Hey, it sounded like a lot of fun at the time.

10. There is no one you would rather spend your Saturday night with.

You would gladly give up your night on the town to chill with your mom binge eating and binge watching Netflix. After all, she is the coolest person you know, what better way to spend a Saturday night than with your best friend.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
