Now that I am older, I have realized that my dad had a huge part on helping to raise me. Although at times, I may have not agreed with many of the rules, I wouldn't be the same person I am today without them. I want to thank my dad for everything he has done not only for me but for every person and child that came into my his life. So, I thank you for being one of the most amazing people I know.

1. He's my first true love.

He's been there for me since day one and has given me attention, love and support.

2. He's is my savior.

Whenever I have a problem, that I cannot fix he helps me figure it no matter how little or big obstacle could be. He even saves me from college every now and again for a weekend.

3. He will always be my protector.

He wants nothing but the best for me because from day one my dad knew I deserve nothing but the best.

4. He understands.

He understands that I am becoming older and the older I get, the more responsibility I have. He understands that I am a young adult that goes to school and works but I try my very best to see him.

5. He tries.

My dad does his very best to give me and my siblings everything we want and need.

6. My Best Friend.

My dad will always be my best friend, he is someone I can watch movies with all day, joke around and even butt-heads from time to time.

7. Being a great dad.

It is not only me my dad does do all these things for but, for my siblings also. They may not see eye to eye with my dad or even agree with me, but they are still young and one day they will see my dad for all that he has done will do for us.

8. For putting us first.

I see a lot of parents put other people before their kids and I want to thank my dad for always making us kids your first priority in whatever you did.

9. Being such a goof ball.

My dad makes it his mission to put a smile on his kids' face because seeing us distraught hurts him, so he'll do the weirdest things to make us laugh. My dad has awesome jokes that he's been saying my whole life and now I say them as well.

10. A father figure.

My dad has given kids who don't have father figures in their life, a father figure. He gives them someone to look up to and someone who treats them as their own.

P.S Happy 39th Birthday old man, I love you!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
