Dads are the best, and we have so much to thank them for. Our dads have been there since day one, and sometimes, we don't recognize all they have done for us. There's not really a formal way to go about thanking our fathers, so I decided to take this time to do so. There are an unlimited amount of things to thank our dads for, but I find these some of the most important.

Dear Dad,

1. Thank you for always being there for me.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in all of my years on this earth, it’s that my dad is always Team Me. It doesn’t matter what I do or what I say, my dad will always support me. I am so blessed to have a father that loves me, and will always have my back.

2. Thank you for teaching me the importance of financial responsibility.

If my family were a business, my dad would surely be the Chief Financial Officer. My dad has taught me how to manage my money, make my money, and spend my money. Without him, I would probably be living in a cardboard box outside of my apartment building.

3. Thank you for teaching me how to be a leader.

Whenever anyone in my family is in a sticky situation, my dad is always the first to provide a solution and guide the team to victory. My dad is the glue that holds us all together, and he has become a positive role model for me in becoming a leader in my own right.

4. Thank you for introducing me to REAL music.

Ever since I was a young kid, my dad always had the best music on in the car. Thanks to him, I appreciate many different kinds of music and artists I may have never heard of otherwise. Thanks dad for opening my eyes and my ears to Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and your 80s classic rock collection.

5. Thank you for putting importance on my education.

My dad has always done whatever it takes to ensure that I have a bright future ahead of me, and this means he has gone above and beyond to ensure that I can get an education. He constantly asks me about my grades, and is overjoyed when I tell him how good they are. Even when they aren’t great, he pushes me to work harder because he knows that getting an education leads to getting a job and making enough money to spoil my parents with their dream beach house.

6. Thank you for teaching me to never give up.

Even in the hardest of times I’ve never seen my dad give up on anything. My dad has therefore taught me how important it is to persevere and try my hardest no matter what life throws at me. Through all of the ups and downs that life brings, my dad pushes through and has taught me the importance of doing the same.

7. Thank you for being the ultimate example of calm, cool, and collected.

Everyone else around him could be in a complete panic, yet somehow my dad always remains calm and thinks with a level head. My dad is the ultimate role model when it comes to handling any sort of catastrophe, and I really hope I can take on life with the kind of composure that he does.

8. Thank you for coming to all of the events I know you didn't want to go to.

Whether it was a dance competition, a school play, an awards banquet, or taking photos before senior prom, I could always count on my dad being there. I know a dance show is not the manliest place you could be on a Saturday afternoon, but I am so grateful that I could always look out into the audience and see you there. Whenever I wanted my dad at any sort of event, he would do whatever it takes to be there, and one day when I have children, I’ll go the extra mile for them too.

9. Thank you for giving me an exquisite taste in food.

So maybe our palette isn’t the most sophisticated, but there’s nothing I enjoy more than talking about our days at the dinner table with a Sloppy Joe in hand. Whether you are firing up steak on the grill, or eating Mexican takeout, I can always count on you and I to be on the same wavelength when it comes to food. Plus, picking out what’s for dinner is a lot easier when we agree!

10. Thank you for being a real-life superhero.

Not all superheroes wear capes, but I think my dad deserves one. No matter what situation comes up in my life, my dad miraculously knows how to fix it. It makes me wonder if he took a Dad 101 class in college because he always has the perfect answers and knows what to say or do no matter the circumstances.

11. Thank you for being an in-home handyman.

I don't know what it is, but somehow my dad has knowledge of every appliance in the house and how to fix a problem with it. Whether a lightbulb is out, a fridge is broken, or a drain is clogged, my dad is only a phone call away with expertise on how to solve the problem like a pro.

12. Thank you for constantly reminding me that I'm a princess.

My dad treats me like a princess, and has taught me to never settle for anything less. My dad has set a standard for how a man is to treat me, and if someone doesn’t meet mine or my dad’s qualifications, they will be out the door in the blink of an eye. My dad has set an incredibly high bar, and it’s going to be hard for anyone to reach it. No matter what happens or who sweeps me off of my feet, my dad will always be my number one man.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
