Alas, finals week, any students worst nightmare, especially the weekend before. There are projects that some waited until the last minute for, oceans of papers to write, and more procrastinating to do. I am a full time student, and I should be studying, but here are some things that I am doing INSTEAD OF STUDYING

1. Writing Christmas cards

I am not the biggest fan of the holiday season, but I still enjoy doing the simple things like writing Christmas cards, I get very estatic when someone gives me one, so I want to give that joy to others as well (especially ones who don’t expect it)

2. Wrapping Christmas presents

Even though I am not a big fan of this time of year, I still do the whole tradition of “gift giving” so before I go home for winter break, I have to wrap all the presents that I bought for my family and friends back home!

3. Going on a walk

Yes, instead of studying in the warmth of the residence halls, I would rather go on a walk around campus or in the University Center because avoiding the whole “studying” thing is way better than actually doing it…. I think this is called procrastination?

4. Cleaning my dorm

Well most students let their dorm look like a war zone (I clean my dorm fairly often), but your room has to be clean in order to study right? No speck of dust must be seen from the spot you are going to be studying at, right?

5. Going to the gym

Working out is healthy, because you need a healthy body to produce a healthy mind??? (It also keeps you distracted from studying for that final)

6. Eating

Whether or not you are eating in your dorm, at the dining hall, or off campus, this is one “fulfilling” way of keeping your mind off of studying.

7. Call someone

Call your mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, your old job, anyone willing to listen to you talk about how much you are stressed and need to study for finals because this test determines your GPA, blah, blah, blah. (or call them because you haven’t called them in a while)

8. Going on a drive

This is calming, and since you really didn’t leave campus all semester, why don’t you drive around the town to actually get to know the place instead of just campus, because why not? It’s finals week…

9. Napping

Take naps throughout the day! Did you read a paragraph of a chapter? Take a nap! Did you write one sentence of that 10 page paper due Monday? Take a nap! Or just take one long collective nap (about 10-12 hours) and really push through studying for the next 24 hours!

10. Watching a whole season on Netflix/Hulu

Binge watching a TV series may not be the best idea during finals week, but if that makes you less stressed, then watch 2 full seasons of that TV show you like, I believe in you!

This is the time of the semester where students are most productive, so this list of procrastination envy may not be the best thing to read when you really DID procrastinate all semester… Good luck to all students and I hope that you Ace all of your finals! May your GPA be in your favor!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
