It's that time of year when we're all on spring break or are planning our upcoming spring break. Some of us will be traveling to tropical destinations, but for those of us who are staying home for spring break here are 10 things you can do on your staycation!

1. Take An Art Class

Spring break is the perfect time to let your creative juices flow since you don't have to worry about the stress of school. Sign up for an art class at your local art studio or do some drawing on your own. Whatever suits you best.

2. Go On Daily Walks

It may be tempting to stay in bed all day, but try to go on a walk everyday. it doesn't have to be a full blown workout; just go for a walk around the block or around your neighborhood.

3. Catch Up On Your Favorite Show On Netflix

This is my personal favorite. I'm currently watching House from the beginning, so watching it on Netflix will definitely be on my list of things to do over spring break.

4. Volunteer For A Cause That Interests You

If you have some free time you can give your time to an organization that interests you. You could walk the dogs at the animal shelter, help tutor some kids, or whatever you are interested in.

5. Meet Up With Friends From High School

It's always nice meeting up with friends from high school and your childhood, so take this time off to spend some time with your friends back at home or maybe even rekindle old friendships.

6. Read A Book For Fun

With the stress of school I barely ever read a book for fun while at school, so whenever I'm on break I like to read something that's not related to school in any way. Reading for fun does so much good for yourself.

7. Sleep

If you're like most other college students you probably don't sleep that much while at school, so use the time off to catch up on your sleep. If this means sleeping all day for you, then go right ahead. Your peers won't judge you because they are probably doing the same!

8. Take A Day Trip

Just because you can't go on vacation doesn't mean you can't go on a road trip. Find somewhere you can drive to in a few hours and plan things to do and places to go to on this trip. I personally love day trips because I feel like I get to get away, but I don't have to break the bank.

9. Have A Party

I'm not talking about a crazy frat party here, but if that's what you're into go for it! Invite some friends or family over for dinner one night and catch up with them. Sometimes you have to go out of your way to see the ones you love, but it's so worth it, especially when you go to school somewhere far away from home.

10. Homework

If all else fails you can always catch up on homework.

Staycations can be relaxing, restful, productive, and fun. Instead of eyeing up your friends' beach pictures on Instagram and Facebook, remember that you don't have to go somewhere far away to have a good time.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
