It is very easy to spend all the money you earn over the summer, but it is important to realize you are going to need that money once the school year rolls around. It is a lot easier to save money in the summer, especially with all the free outside activities that are available to you.

1. Sign up for a free class

The summer is the perfect time to try out new workout studios. And most studios have first class free passes that are very easy to take advantage of.

2. Cook a recipe with leftover ingredients

Leftovers are never fun after having them three nights in a row. But it is very easy to scrounge up some different ingredients and make a whole new meal out of your leftovers.

3. Sunbathe

You don't necessarily need to belong to a pool to get tan. You could get some friends together and lie out on someone's driveway or patio!

4. Go to the park

There is always so much you could do at the park. You could bring a soccer ball and kick it around with a friend or have a picnic.

5. Host a dinner party

Having dinner parties in the summer is a great way to stay connected with your friends and catch up with people that you haven't seen since high school. And the great thing about hosting is that you usually won't have to buy anything!

6. Rearrange your furniture

I love to redo my room when I get home from school because it is usually very cluttered. This is a very good activity that takes a lot of time, and you feel very accomplished after you do it.

7. Start a DIY project

Most DIY projects are doable by using items that are lying around the house. DIY projects are always a great summer activity to do with friends.

8. Do spa treatments at home

It is very easy to make a bathroom become a spa. All you need are some candles, warm towels and warm lotion, and you will feel like you are at an actual spa.

9. Go for a bike ride with friends

This is a great summer activity and a fun type of exercise that you can't do in the winter!.

10. Browse the farmers market

Farmers markets are always popping up around towns and cities, and they are a great way to spend your afternoon. Most stands also have samples, so it is a nice way to find a free treat!

Going to restaurants and bars with friends are always fun activities to do in the summer as well, but they end up taking a toll on the bank account. It is always fun to stay in one night, make a home-cooked meal and cocktails with friends, hang out and take in the sweet summer air.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
