So this past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to go to Seattle, Washington. It was absolutely wonderful. The weather was perfect. The people were friendly. The view was awesome (especially Mt. Rainier). And guess what, it did not even rain.

1. Pike Place

Pike Place is a definite must-see in Seattle. There are so many shops, food places, and markets here. They have fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh fish, and fresh bread. They also have plenty of souvenirs to take home to your loved ones (or for yourself).

2. Smith Tower

The Smith Tower was built in 1914 and became the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Even though now, it is quite far from being the tallest building in Seattle, it has a wonderful view of the city and the inside is absolutely beautiful.

3. Seattle Great Wheel

The Great Wheel gives you a great view of the whole city. You definitely get your money's worth. Also if you are scared of heights, the whole seat is completely closed in.

4. Fremont Troll

I have to admit, before I came to Washington, I was so excited about seeing this guy. The Fremont Troll was a lot bigger than I could have imagined though. Also, there is a nice brewery right next to it.

5. Space Needle

This is probably the thing that comes to most people's minds when it comes to Seattle. I did not get to go to the top of it, but the view of it was quite spectacular.

6. First Starbuck's Store

If you are a coffee lover, you need to for sure go to the place Starbuck's all started. But do not get confused by all of the other Starbucks around. This one is at Pike's Place and you will be able to tell which one is the first by the line going out the door. We had to wait 45 minutes to get into the store, but I would say that it was definitely worth it. I am not saying I would do it again, but it is definitely something you must do once. (Get the Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato with extra caramel, it is the best.)

7. Moore Coffee Shop

If you love coffee and you love art, this is the place to go. It is a very small coffee shop with very good coffee.

8. Biscuit Bitch

Excuse my language, but this place was absolutely amazing. I got the Cheesy Pork 'n Bitch and it was one of the best breakfast meals I have ever had. It had biscuits, gravy, cheese, bacon, and eggs on it. 10/10 would recommend.

9. Chihuly Garden and Glass

I did not have the opportunity to go here but everyone I talked to in Washington recommended it to me. I will definitely have that on my to-do list for next time.

10. Gas Works Park

This place has a very nice view of the whole city, plus it sits on the river. It is a nice way to go relax and see Seattle at the same time.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
