1. Play 20 Questions

Playing 20 questions is a must on a road trip, it not only is fun but it will also help pass the time. This also will help you gain knowledge on a myriad to things if someone picks a topic or a person that you do not know about.

2. Listen to Music

Whether you are blasting music of just listening to it with earphones, music is a must. There is always a point in a road trip that you have to jam out with your family and friends to your favorite songs. Also, a road trip is just not complete with out the perfect playlist.

3. Play the License Plate Game

The license plate game is a game that can be played many different ways, either alphabetically or by state. If you play alphabetically you compete with the other people in the car to see who can get through the alphabet first. It is much harder to go through all of the states because how often will you see a license plate from all 50 states?

4. Chinese Fire Drill

Chinese fire drills are something that are fun no matter if you are going to the grocery store or on a long road trip. If you do not know what this is, when you have at least 3 people in the car, and when you get to an intersection everybody (but the driver) gets out of the car and runs around a few times, then gets back in. It is not only hilarious to do but if you are in a near by car it is even funnier.

5. Spontaneous Stops

if you are going on a rather long road trip and you see a sign for something that you have never heard or, or have always wanted to go to, stop! Especially if you are the driver and you have no set in stone plans stop and take a detour, it is one of the most exhilarating things to not know what to expect. It will make for a great story, and will give you great life experience.

6. Play "I'm Going on a Picnic"

The game "I'm going on a picnic" is a memory game where you need a car full of people to play. The first person says "I'm going on a picnic and I'm going to bring..." and they would say a food that starts with the letter "a" and then the nest person would repeat what the person said before them, and so on. If anybody messes up, they are out! It is a really fun and entertaining game that will also help you pass the time.

7. Catch Up on Sleep

if you are on a long car ride and you know that you are going to be doing a lot once you arrive at your destination, it would be a great idea to catch up on some sleep while you are stuck on the road for hours and hours. Nobody likes to be extremely tired when they get to their fun and exciting destination, so catch up on some z's!

8. Watch a Movie

Want to catch up on some movies, a long car ride is perfect. Bring dvd's and watch them on your computer. Although most of us would rather be watching Netflix, you have to save data am I right ;)

9. Experience New Food/ Places

When you are stopping on the road or getting out at random places don't be afraid to try the thing that is 'native' to where you are. If you are in the south get some grits, if you are in Chicago get a deep dish pizza, the possibilities are endless. This will also help you get outside of your comfort zone,

10. Bond with Friends/ Family

Although one might thing 10 plus hours with your family in a car might be excruciating, the time spent together will create memories and bonds that you will always have. Even with friends, there is a right of passage when you are stuck with someone in a car for hours on end, there are always things that you do/ will learn about a person in a car, and it creates a special bond. So, even if you are not too thrilled to be going on a road trip with your parents you will make memories that you will be thankful you have.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life.
