Retail. This basically consists of everything and anything that you buy, wear, eat, and more. Being a customer and shopping for these items is great, but working retail can sometimes be a nightmare. So, here's 10 things everyone who's worked retail knows.
1. You secretly shop while you're working, scoping out what you're going to blow your next paycheck on.
2. And when you get your paycheck, you quickly realize that you probably shouldn't blow it all...
3. So instead you end up at the thrift shop, channeling your inner Macklemore.
4. When customers are rude to you, and you desperately want to say this...
5. But you can't, because according to your manager, the customer is (almost) always right.
6. So you just smile and nod politely, like what they said to you didn't totally irk your nerves.
7. You secretly love closing, because there's no one there, and you can do just about anything you want (well, close to anything you want).
8. Black Friday is both the best and worst day of your life. It's a day you prepare for beginning in September. Watching customers go crazy over the deals never gets old.
9. When a new truckload of products comes in, you know that means completely re-arranging the floor, even though there's no room for any of it.
10. You bond with your co-workers over the daily struggles of working retail, and they're the ones who keep you coming back to work.
Working retail has it's ups and downs, and can sometimes be dreadful. But it's taught you customer service, hard work, patience, and given you a new appreciation for the retail industry. So here's to you my fellow retail workers!
