Whether you currently work at a restaurant or used to, here are a few facts all food service employees know too well.

1. You smell of "Eau de Resturanté"

You have no choice in your perfume anymore. The smell of french fries and grease will forever be embedded in your clothes.

2. You have nightmares

Whether it be the phone constantly ringing and you can't reach it or spilling champagne on all your customers, you're sure to have a few unpleasant dreams regarding your place of work.

3. You're always hungry

When that sizzling burger and crisp fries waft past your nose it's hard not to salivate.

4. You don't need a gym membership

Running around the restaurant, bussing tables, carrying 6 plates of food while basically juggling flaming balls and jumping through hoops, you get your cardio and strength training in just a few hours.

5. You will never find fashionable non-slip shoes

You just cant. If someone does, will you please let me know?!

6. You have extra compassion whenever you go out to eat

You know first hand just how hard and taxing the work they're doing is. Who cares if it takes them an 30 minutes to bring the menus, you're just glad they didn't forget your table.

7. You have favorites

Whether you're a server, busser, host, or cook, we all have our favorites around the restaurant. The ones that can make your shift 100 times better.

8. You appreciate the small things

A simple "You did a great job" or "I love your smile" are things we value so deeply. They seem small, but it can help make or break your day.

9. You eat at odd hours

When you're working from 3-11 you don't always have time for a break. Your usual midnight snack now becomes your dinner.

10. It may not be easy, but it's worth it

Sure the hours can be long, you work on the weekends and holidays, but you end up making the best relationships and gain valuable skills for life.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
