I'm sure you all have heard the horrors of what it's like to work in retail. I would like to share some of my experiences while I have been working at Kohl's - aka a nightmare.
While working at Kohl's I have learned that to succeed you need to have a lot of patience and a smile constantly plastered on your face. I have also learned that at first it seems like an amazing job because you are working with clothes and get a sweet discount. Now that I have worked there for a little over a year, I have realized that there are a lot of things that make the job...let's just say not so perfect.
Such as:
When you work a long shift and start to hear the cd repeat
It gets worse around Christmas time...
When you walk into a fitting room and clothes are absolutely everywhere
It's the worst especially when they walk right by you with a smile on their face. Did your mother really teach you to be disrespectful and a slob?
When someone decides to leave you a "surprise" under all the clothes they left
My coworker once found that someone could not hold their bladder any longer and decided to cover it up with the clothes they tried on.
When you're on register and there's an article of clothing without a price tag so of course "it must be for free then!"
I hear this at least 10 times a day.
When you're about to leave or take a break, but get stuck on the registers because the line never stops
Your stomach is growling and the customers just keep on coming. Sometimes you're there for an extra half hour after your shift ends.
When you say to a customer "hi how are you today" and they just ignore you
Is it so hard to say "I'm good how are you?!"
When you're working on folding a table and a customer comes right next to you unfolding everything.
You can just ask me to find your size and I can get it for you!
When someone asks you the price of an item and the sign clearly says it
When someone comes in 5 minutes before we close and starts going through the clearance racks.
When your coworker replacing you comes in and you can finally leave.
