I don't know about you but, I want to be more than just pretty. I don't want people to just look at me and think I'm pretty. I don't want to be told I'm pretty all the time. I'd rather be so much more than just pretty.

1. Intelligent

I'd rather have the brains than the beauty any day. I'd rather be able to tell you about all the body parts, what they do, why we need them to function than be told hey you're good looking. I'd rather bury in head in a book than stand at a party with a bunch of guys drooling over random girls. I'd rather do my homework than brag about how I didn't do my homework and got drunk last night. I'd rather be intelligent than pretty.

2. Kind

I'd rather hand someone a dime if they desperately needed it than be told hey you're cute. I'd rather buy someone a hot drink on a cold day because they look like they need it rather than being told that I'm pretty. Kindness is something we should strive to be especially to each other, yet we don't see it very often anymore. I'd rather be kind than pretty.

3. Respected

I'd rather feel more comfortable walking around by myself in crowds of people without being called pretty. I'd rather people not feel the need to cat call me randomly and make me feel like I am being attacked because I am a girl walking down the street alone. I'd rather feel safe and be respected than be called pretty.

4. Funny

I'd rather make someone laugh so hard they start crying than be called pretty. I'd rather sit with someone laughing so hard till we both start to cry than for them to think I am just pretty. I'd rather make jokes about stupid things rather than them think I am just a pretty little girl. I'd rather be funny than pretty.

5. Independent

I'd rather not depend on everyone around me for the answers than be pretty. I'd rather go out and find the answers on my own. I'd rather stand alone than with the others if I don't agree with them. I'd rather be independent than pretty.

6. Honest

I'd rather tell someone the truth than be called pretty. I'd rather not lie to someone because I don't want to hurt them. Even the little lies matter. I'd rather be honest than pretty.

7. Determined

I'd rather have a strong will to get something done than be pretty. I'd rather have my head on in the right direction to get things done. I'd rather get things that I want and need done than be pretty.

8. Creative

I'd rather be able to create things and explore all the created things in this world than be pretty. I'd rather create articles, pictures, and paintings than be pretty. I'd rather use the resources made for us and create my own things with them than be pretty. I'd rather be creative than pretty.

9. Open Minded

I'd rather listen to someone's opinion and put myself in their shoes than be pretty. I'd rather take what others say and actually think about it than be pretty. I'd rather people be heard than be pretty. I'd rather be open minded than be pretty.

10. Humble

I'd rather not brag about myself and would rather help someone than be pretty. I'd rather listen to them than talk about myself. I'd rather be humble than be pretty.

Ten things I'd rather be than pretty right in front of your eyes. I'd rather be much more than just these ten things but, this is what came to mind first. Life is so much more than the looks. Life is about the person you make yourself out to be. I'd rather be much more than pretty.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
