I am almost 19 years old, yet somehow I still look 12. Its like my body just said "nope, you're stopping here. You can look 12 for the rest of your life." One time I tried to see an R rated movie and realized I forgot my ID. When I told the ticket guy, he looked at me, laughed, and said, "Do you really think I would believe you that you're not, like, 13?" Things like this actually happen quite often, because this is just a typical day in the life of someone who looks half their age. In fact, we have a whole slew of lines that we are used to hearing at this point...
1. "Wait, you're in college?"
This one never gets old.. Yes, i am in college. No, I did not skip a few grades.
2. "Are you old enough to work here?"
I've worked in my family's restaurant since I really was 12. The old customers think I am somehow still that age, and the new customers question if I am even old enough to legally work, and then look at me like this when I tell them my age
3. "So how are you liking your first year of high school?"
Oh I loved freshman year... when I went through it five years ago! *major eye roll*
4. "Can I speak to an adult?"
Yeah, you're looking at her. What can I help ya with, person who clearly doesn't know my age?
5. "Is this your real ID?"
Okay look, I'm not 21 yet, so what makes you think I would actually get a fake ID for being 18?
6. "You'll appreciate it when you're older."
Maybe when I am 50 I will appreciate looking 30, but today is not that day.
7. "So how old are you really?"
No one knows my real age. I get asked this a million times a day.
8. "Who is the oldest?"
My little sister is 13 and taller than me. At college orientation they gave her my name tag and gave me the family member name tag. Why couldn't I be like her and look twice my age?
9. "You look the youngest out of all your friends."
Yes, I know. No need to remind me.
10. "Aren't you 12?"
The best one of all. It's unavoidable
