10 Things People From Rhode Island Are Sick Of Hearing

Being from the smallest state in the country, I have heard my fair share of interesting comments about my home of Rhode Island. It is always funny hearing what people think about our little gem on the east coast. Here are some of my favorite things that I have heard about Rhode Island.

1. "Is it really that small?"

Yes, it really is that small. Bigger than most assume, but still 37 miles wide and 48 miles long is very small.

2. "Does everyone know everyone?"

Yes I know a lot of people from Rhode Island, but no I do not know everyone. There are 1 million people in the state, how would I know everyone?!

3. "My friend knows someone that lives there, do you know them?"

Did you not hear me when I just said there are 1 million people? Nope, I probably don't know them.

4. "What is there to even do there?"

Pretty much the same things that there is to do in every other hometown, except with beaches everywhere and pretty cool things to do in Providence. Both are easy to get to because you can't be more than a 30 minutes away from them, you know... small state.

5. "...I feel like it's really boring."

I just have to insert another eye roll here and let baby Harry Potter do the talking for me.

6. "Tell the Griffins I say 'hi!'"

Please don't go there right now. Are you aware that 'Family Guy' is a cartoon?

7. "But actually...is there a Quahog Rhode Island?"

Nope, just nope.

8. "I've been to Newport before!"

I'm so happy for you! But, there are a lot of other cool places in Rhode Island that you should probably check out.

9. "Aren't you basically just a suburb of Boston?"

Regina speaks the truth, so just stop.

10. "Is it actually an island?"

If you have ever seen a map of the United States, you will notice that Rhode Island is fully attached. However, we do have over 30 islands in the state.
