1. Spend time with your family. That's what Thanksgiving Break is all about! Many students are enjoying this break as their first time home since the summer, so soak it up. They're actually just as excited to see you this time because you haven't been there in a while.
2. Eat all of the home-cooked food, all of it. No more dining halls or Chick-Fil-A this week - I know, it's going to be hard but we can get through it together. I've already texted my dad asking if he can make my favorite foods when I get home; gotta be prepared!
3. Go to your favorite restaurants at home. That coffee shop down the street that makes it just the way you want, and no I'm not talking about Dunkin' Donuts this time (although they deserve a visit too). Enjoy all of the little places you haven't been to in a while.
4. Be prepared to answer any and all questions about school/work/relationship status/etc. when visiting with relatives. Can you just send me a Google Doc of your questions and I will share it with the whole family so I don't have to repeat myself every three minutes?
5. Sleep. No worrying about getting to class or work on time, or staying up until 4 A.M. writing that paper that was due at midnight. Take comfort in your giant, comfy bed and don't let anyone discourage you for sleeping until two in the afternoon.
6. Hangout with your high school friends, they miss you too! This isn't just a time for family, friends are home from school too. Go to movies or out to dinner to catch up on how crazy (or not) everyone's lives have been since the summer.
7. Take a day trip. Whether it's to Boston or New York City or somewhere you haven't been before, take a day with some family or friends and go shopping in a whole new city. It's always good to get a change of scenery.
8. Take lots of pictures. "Pics or it didn't happen!" Right Hannah? With all of your time off and adventures with your favorite people, embrace the selfies and the endless documentation of every single Christmas Tree mom fell in love with.
9. Watch your favorite Christmas movie (a.k.a. Elf). I know I'm not alone on this one! Settle down by the fireplace with some hot cocoa and embrace your inner childhood, footsie pajamas and all.
10. Last but not least, study. I know, it's break so you shouldn't have to, but with finals starting the day after you get back, it might help to review those notes you (kind of) took in class the day before your flight left. Whether you study on the plane or during a long car ride, squeeze in those last bits of knowledge before you have to actual go back and take the final.
