College is a one of a kind experience that you will never forget. It will be filled with its shares of ups and downs, but it’s all worth it. You will make the memories that will last a lifetime with the friends that you will never forget. In the end you wouldn’t change a thing about it.

1. Spending your entire summer savings on textbooks.

All that money that you spent months earning is now gone within the blink of an eye. At the beginning of the semester, you add up all the books you need and the cart says $500. All your money is blown on textbooks. The most expensive book you buy, isn’t even used most of the time.

2. Coffee, ramen noodles, and easy mac are essential to survival.

Your diet in college will change, but you will never get tired of ramen noodles and easy mac. Your mornings and late nights wouldn’t be complete without six cups of coffee either.

3. Leggings became a part of your daily wardrobe.

You truly know you’re in college when wearing jeans is considered dressing up. Everyone is typically walking around in lounge wear and college apparel. Who has time to dress up, especially when you have class at 8 a.m.

4. Naps.

When you were a kid you used to take naps all the time, but as you got older you grew out of them and thought they were for babies. Now in college, you look forward to that nap you take between classes because it may be the only amount of sleep you get for the day.

5. Late night food runs.

It’s really not that unusual to for you and your friends to venture out to your local 24 – hour diner or Sheetz at midnight. You will cram as many people in the car as can go and will stock up on snacks for the week.

6. Forcing yourself to stay awake in a lecture.

he fight between staying awake or falling asleep in a lecture is the hardest thing you have to do. Or the worst thing is fighting skipping class all together.

7. Random emails.

“Today we will be paving the parking lot”. You will receive an ungodly amount of emails about the most random things, and then your professor questions why you didn’t check your email about the assignment.

8. Being broke. All the time.

You find yourself ordering of the dollar menu or skipping a meal. You are thousands and thousands of dollars in debt and can’t afford anything. Yup, that’s college for you.

9. Free anything will get you out of bed to attend any event.

“Free T-Shirt,” or “Free Pizza,” or free anything will become your best friend. You can’t turn down an offer that has something free. If it’s free, you will defiantly be there.

10. Finals week is the only time where you can function without sleeping for an entire week straight.

It’s the only time you find yourself in the library for long hours. The only thing keeping you alive at this point is pixie sticks and coffee. When you finally feel confident, you realize its 5 a.m. and would rather pull an all-nighter then oversleep for your final that morning.

It’s college. Even though you go through some of the most stressful and emotional and happy times of your life. You wouldn’t change a thing about it.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
