Who is a better teacher than our mothers ?

We grow up seeing her, hearing her, and imitating her. We are in awe of her actions and words every step of the way. Soon before we even know it, we find ourselves trying to walk in our mother's heels, never abstractly; even trying to really walk in her shoes to see her perception. We find ourselves in front of the mirror, trying to put on her make up with our little fumbling hands, until she catches us, and dolls us up by herself, never really getting angry that we used her possessions; that we made her possessions our very own. What was hers, was ours, and she always succeeded in making sure we knew that.

All through life, our mothers try their best to shape us into better, kinder, and more loving human beings. They want the best for us, and the best of us.

Here are a few things my mother taught me:

1. If you do not get something, something bigger is in store for you.

We don't always get what we wish for. But it is important to know that there is always something bigger in store for us.

2. Whatever happens, happens for the good.

This is life. It is about the good, and the bad. We would never know how to appreciate the good, if we never knew what the "bad" felt like.

3. Be patient. Everything takes its due course. If it's in your destiny, it shall happen.

My mother is a strong believer in destiny. She knows that what is meant to happen, will happen. We shall not spend too much time fretting about a situation.

4. Always be grateful, and respectful.

Our lives are a product of our surroundings. Therefore, it is important to be thankful for everything that we have received, the people we have met, and everything we have gone through.

5. Don't let any opportunity simply pass you by. Grab it, and make the most of it.

Our mothers always want the best for us. So they want us to make the best of each opportunity and be happy.

6. Love unconditionally. But never forget to love yourself first.

Mothers know the importance of loving, treating, and indulging ourselves better than anybody else. All their lives, they have fabulously managed time, and made time for themselves. They know the importance of pampering oneself, and taking a break every once in a while.

Mother are also the epitome of unconditional love. If you want to know how to love, just observe your mother. In every action she takes, and in every word she speaks, there is love.

7. Don't be concerned too much about what the world will think. But be mindful of your actions.

If you can look into your own eyes after doing something, then it is the right thing to do. But if you can't, stop and think about what you are about to do.

8. Always have faith. In you, and God.

Yes, always believe that you got this. Any venture you take on, always have faith in yourself. Have faith in God, or the greater force that resides over us.

9. Don't be afraid of asking for help.

We all have situations where we need help. Two is always better than one, and our mothers know that from their experience.

10. And ultimately, always listen to me !!

Haha no, I am just kidding. What she does advise me is to always go to her as soon as I am faced with a problem. I always go to her after I have panicked, and done things to make the problem even worse.

Because ultimately, we all know the ultimate truth -

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
