With only a few days left of school, it's time to start packing up my room, finish my exams, and say goodbye to the friends, and the home, that I've enjoyed for the last nine months. As the year comes to an end, my excitement for summer grows with each passing minute. But, so does my sadness, as I think about having to leave the wonderful city and people of La Crosse for the next three months. So, while I can't wait for summer and I'm anxious to see my family, hometown friends, and pets, there are so many things I'm going to miss while I'm away from Lax.

1. Bluff Hikes

A classic La Crosse pass time that never ceases to amaze me. I truly live in the most beautiful place.

2. Riverside

Whether it's rollerblading next to it, studying for exams, or enjoying some ice cream, the river is the perfect spot to escape to when you just need a break.

3. The Pearl

Seriously, how am I supposed to go three months without a waffle cone filled with Mississippi Mud?

4. Moka

The cutest coffee shop with the cheapest prices and perfect study spot? Yes, I will definitely be missing that.

5. The Mornings

I swear La Crosse has the most beautiful mornings. Looking out my window and seeing the sun pop over the bluffs and the fog clear away is the perfect way to start my day.

6. The Nights

We have the most incredible sunsets, too.

7. Running

I'm more of a, "I run to get in shape" type of person. But running here is the most beautiful thing. The weather is perfect, the trails through the marsh are gorgeous, and the ground is surprisingly flat for being surrounded by bluffs. There's always a new trail to discover, which makes running here the best.

8. UW-L Environment

Our campus is filled with the most pleasant people and everywhere you go, you see someone you know. People are always out and about and it's going to be weird not being around these friendly faces for so long.

9. Downtown

La Crosse truly has everything. The various shops, restaurants, and adventures downtown will be calling my name by the time August comes around.

10. My friends

And last, but certainly not least, I will miss those people who have gotten me through my first year. The roommate who has supported me and seen my ups and downs. The friends who have pushed me through the difficult days and have brought me so many wonderful memories. The teammates who have made me stronger. The people who have made my home away from home, feel like home. I'll really miss them all.

I can honestly say that there are only two things I won't miss this summer: construction and Whitney. And if that's the case, I consider myself pretty lucky to call La Crosse home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
