I never thought anything of the little quirks that people from Massachusetts have. Once I started school in Pennsylvania three years ago, I realized that some of the things I find "natural" are not so for everyone. Here is a list of the few things that I am often made fun of for.
1. Pronouncing room “rum.”
2. Calling them “jimmies” not “sprinkles.”
3. Calling Dunkin Donuts “Dunks.”
4. Calling it “take out” not “carry out.”
5. Saying “I’m going to take a run” instead of “I’m going to run.”
6. Calling it a “sub” not a “hoagie.”
7. Pronouncing “Reese’s” “REE-SEES.”
8. Calling it a “rotary” not a “roundabout.”
9. Walking fast.
10. Saying “New England fall is the best.” (Because it is.)
11. Being a lowkey aggressive driver.
12. Jay-walking.
13. Calling “Cape Cod” “the Cape.”
14. Claiming I’m from “The Boston Area” when I live forty-five minutes away.
15.Being made fun of with the chant “PAHK THE CAH AT HAHVAHD YAHD."
