Its no doubt that tensions are high in our country right now. Lately I have noticed our society just so full of hate, and being engrossed in that environment all the time really brings you down. Its hard to get on social media all the time to just to see negativity. So today I wanted to share a few a things that you can do to make the world a little brighter.

1. Leave positive notes in public places.

Leaving little notes of affirmation, positive thoughts and inspiring quotes is just a way to make a strangers day a little brighter. That stranger could share a photo of your note and it could spread positivity across the world!

2. Volunteer at an animal shelter.

Go walk or play with some local puppies or kittens that need some love. It makes the animals happier, the staff happier and odds are it would make you a lot happier too!

3. Donate blood!

The Red Cross is in need of all types of blood right now! Each time you donate you save up to 3 lives! I can't think of a better way to make the world better than by saving lives!

4. Do a random act of kindness.

Pay for someones coffee, compliment a stranger, give someone a nice meal, the possibilities are endless. Doing something kind for someone often leads to them paying it forward.

5. Make a good meal.

Cooking a meal that makes you happy, a comfort food, or something that reminds you of home can drastically increase your mood.

6. Try something new.

Take an adventure! There is nothing quite like the rush of doing something new whether it be food, an experience, or visiting a new location. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone.

7. Teach yourself a new skill.

Learn calligraphy, how to knit, or how to work on a car. Teach yourself a skill that will make your life easier and that you can pass on to someone else.

8. Get involved.

If you want to make a difference in your community, get involved. You can make a direct impact on your community along with bettering yourself in the process! If you want to see change then be part of it.

9. Keep a journal of all the things you are grateful for.

Every morning right down 5 things that you are thankful for. Do this for two weeks and you can't repeat anything you have written down before. Doing this small exercise can really remind you of all the things you have in your life to be grateful for.

10. SELF CARE!!!

Self care is single handedly the most important thing to do/learn! In times of high stress and emotion remember to take care of yourself! Self care can help keep you sane, reduce stress/anxiety and keep you grounded. Take some time today to do something that you enjoy doing. You deserve a break!

Remember to love yourself, and one another during this time when so many are hurting. Lets heal together!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
