Pizza
If the locals say its the best pizza in town, don’t think you’re getting anything like back home. New Jersey is where you’ll find the best pizza’s. Pizza won’t be the same anywhere else you go.
Bagels
Same with bagels. The further west you go, the less bagel shops you’ll find. Most people eat Panera bagels or store bought.
Wawa
I never realized how much I went to Wawa until i moved to Hawaii. No matter what anyone says, Hoagiefest will forever be in my heart. Also, no one knows what a “hoagie” is.
Convenience
No matter where you live, NYC or Philly really isn’t that far away. They make great day or weekend trips without going too far away from home. It’s so close that it’s often taken for granted. Most of the people I’ve met have NYC on their bucket list.
Gas Station Attendants
Yes you have to leave the comfort of your car to pump your own gas.
Fast Service
It's all about the speed of service. That's mainly the first thing you'll see on restaurant reviews. The service will more often than not be a little slower than what you're used to outside of NJ.
Beach Access
For the most part, the maximum time it takes to drive to a beach is an hour. There are beach towns all along the coast of NJ.
Fast Driving
In other states, it feels like people are in no rush to get to where they’re going. They take their sweet ol time driving down the highway… doing the speed limit.
Language
Whether it’s our own lingo of Pork Roll/Taylor Ham, Sub/Hoagie, Jughandle or the infamous range of swear words, no one will understand. No one curses nearly as much compared to people from NJ. And if we're including an unspoken language, no one can flip you the bird while driving like someone from New Jersey.
Seasons
Living in NJ, you’ll be baking in the sun at 95 degrees and within a few months you’ll be curled up in a blanket at 30 degrees. I didn't think I'd miss the fall weather before moving to Hawaii.
