10 Things I Learned About Being An Aunt

Besides the fact that I have two of the most beautiful girls as my nieces!

10 Things I Learned About Being An Aunt

1. You end up doing anything they ask.

Go swimming even though you just showered? Play endless rounds of board games? Watch a million episodes of Jessie? How can you say no to that cute little face???

2. Your old things (and your friends) become theirs.

Sometimes I truly am concerned that my friends are only friends with me to see those two cuties. Pretty sure they are more popular than me to be honest with you.

3. Your entire day can be made just by their smiles or giggles alone.

I mean come on. If seeing this picture doesn't just change your entire mood, I truly do not know what will.

4. They are the best cuddlers and back scratchers.

Of course it helps when they don't really understand the concept of time, so you have them scratch your back for way longer than they signed up for! :)

5. You have such a big influence on them, even if you may not realize it.

I guess having a nineteen-year-old aunt means you know how to snapchat, have one finger nail painted a different color, take cute candid pictures, and like to get your back tan! (I'd like to think my interest in fashion has some effect on them too.)

6. You become that crazy protective parent that you swore you never wanted to be…as an aunt.

Because it is completely normal to want to show up at a little kid's house who even looks at them the wrong way, right? You're going to try to tell me you wouldn't feel the same way for these faces??

7. Someone so little can have such a big and pure heart.

Not only do they have such a big heart, but they fill my heart with so much love ALL. THE. TIME.

8. No one gives better hugs than those of a niece.

I'm serious. There is NOTHING better!!

9. You have your own human doll that you can dress up.

It helps that they love wearing my makeup and accessories too!

10. They say you experience unconditional love when you have your own children; however, I felt this unconditional love much sooner.

Let's just say my own kids have some pretty big shoes to fill!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
