3 Things You Learn As A Transfer Student

Management Skills:

Applications, transcripts- galore. The marveling management behind transferring revolves around your entire day and it's all you ever think about. As if applying the first time was easy, right? From managing paperwork, to packing your dorm room.

Revamping ideas and constructing a plan to get through it was rather hectic and not so much easy. Micro or macro managing seems just about the same amount of work. You learn that timing is crucial when handling and jumping into a transfer mode. It's really just a leap of faith, in the right direction.

Self-Improvement:

Priorities are changed and planning in accordance never made more sense to you. You import new ideas through old mistakes and export new actions from the learning process. The fundamental key to get through college is realizing you must put yourself first. Your very own future is open and limitless. The partying can wait, Thirsty-Thursday's can wait. Friends come and go and social cliques will always have their dramas.

The very best investment you can make is an investment in yourself, in your education. More library hours, less boozing hours. Finding adventures in the oddest ways, such as transferring, that's real growth. That my friend, is thinking outside the box, in a college world.

Finding Freedom:

To-Do List's became your best friend. Because, hey, a lot has happened to you. You became more independent during the transfer. Maybe you even commute now, and took-on a part-time job with a full-time school schedule? Commuting is actually difficult, gas and all. Never underestimate your friends that commute to their campus. They are the ones that actually sacrifice more. Being in a dorm or off-campus apartment to coordinate in-between naps and binge watch Netflix is lovely. For commuters, that luxury comes with a price. For transferees, they know the best of both worlds, if done both.

All in all,

It's the tiny steps that you, as a transfer student, take that makes way for a much larger scale of light. Being open and finding your way around is second nature.College is about being the best version of you and contributing to your eduction through your own course of actions.
