1. The meaning of Rock Chalk and the history behind it

Rock Chalk refers to limestone found on Mt. Oread

2. Camping is not what one would think

We take basketball seriously and camp for days on end to be let into the game. We aren't guaranteed a spot unless you and your camping group spend hours sitting in Allen Field House.

3. Basketball is more than just a sport

Basketball at KU is a religion and people refer to Allen Field House as Church.

4. The weather is unpredictable

You better wear layers because it can go from -10 to 50 degrees within an hour.

5. Why we wave the wheat

Every time our football team scores (which is rare) or the other team fouls out in basketball the whole crowd puts their arms in the sky and waves the wheat of the state of Kansas uniting everyone at the games.

6. Official rules of basketball and their importance

The 10 rules of basketball were created at KU and you best believe that we have a museum highlighting them.

No one really tells you why you hate them you just do. Simple as that.

8. The Jayhawk Cafe is not an actual Cafe

One would think that something with the word cafe would be a quaint restaurant, but instead, it is a sweaty freshman bar.

Though the students call it Wescoe Beach all it is, is concrete where students hang out and protestors come.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
