As I finish my sophomore year in college, I can definitely say that I have learned a thing or two from being in college. When I was talking to a friend the other day she asked me to list ten things I’ve learned from college. I sat and thought for a moment and then started to list these ten things.
1. That I’m not stupid. A huge realization for me was that everyone can be successful in college if they want to be. It really just takes effort, time, and diligence.
2. How to handle a busy schedule. After having to balance multiple assignments, work, and everyday life, I have gained a lot of confidence in my ability to accomplish goals.
3. To get up and go to class every day whether I do or don’t want to. So many times I have been tempted to just keep sleeping, but it’s worth trying to make it to each class if possible.
4. I commute to class with my brother who is at the same college as me and we have both learned how to handle roads being blocked off and finding other routes to campus.
5. That my mom is pretty amazing and is always there to help. I have so much respect for my parents, I just haven’t realized it until now.
6. Commuting with my brother has brought me a lot closer to him, which is nice.
7. Driving in foggy, rainy, and windy weather isn’t as terrible as it seems even when it’s dark outside.
8. How important family and close friends are and how you have to be willing to meet and befriend new people.
9. I can tolerate more than I thought I could. So many times I look back on a situation and I think, “I'm so glad I got through that”.
10. I realized that I care more about what God wants me to do than anything else. This is something that I really feel at peace with and I can’t really explain.
