I believe that my vocabulary is very, VERY colorful but I hate the judgmental comments I get when I say a word that someone does not like.

1. "You are unprofessional."

I curse in front of friends. And in grunts of frustration. I do not go to an employer or a professional boss and say, "Shit." or any other curse words. There is a time and place to say things.

2. "You only curse for attention."

I don't know a single woman who swears just to get attention. Personally, I've never thought cussing would magically make me stand out or appear sexier or more confident or tough, either. But if you're a woman who loves to swear, some people are going to think you only developed Sailor Mouth or a trucker mouth because you're an attention-seeker.

3. "You are just trying to be 'one of the guys'."

This one I CANNOT stress enough. Just because I curse, does not mean I am more manly then feminine.

4. "You try to be cool."

Just because I said "Damn" does not mean I am trying to fit in by any means. But thank you for asking about my popularity.

5. "You are far from classy."

First of all, no one should get to tell grown women whether or not we're classy enough; we get to decide that for ourselves. Let's open the book to music guru's who use swears. Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lily Allen, and Lana Del Rey all curse in their songs, and they are the classiest people I have ever met.

6. "My religion is against this."

I swear I hear this more than ten times a day. Just because I say the F word, does not mean I worship Satan, but thanks.

7. "You have terrible manners."

Okay, okay. I do not say all the curse words at the dinner table.

8. "You must drink like sailors."

What does cursing have anything to do with alcohol?

9. "You must have a poor vocabulary."

No comment for this one.

10. "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

I kiss everyone with this mouth. Sometimes I pass "the cursing bug" to other people. *gasp*

Here are ten things that I, as a woman, am sick of hearing because I curse.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
