1. Let's start with the obvious: Snow
I love when it snows because it's so silent when it falls and when the moonlight reflects off the snow. I love seeing the ground covered in snow and the trees with icicles. It looks so aesthetically pleasing.
2. Holidays
You might not like holiday shopping, but when the big day comes, you'll remember why you love it. You'll forget about the January credit card statement and think about the happy faces when family members open the gifts you bought them.
3. Six weeks break from School
This is one of my favorite things because after a long Fall semester, sleeping in warm blankets sounds nice. Your finals are over, no more worry about tests at the moment, no more waking up early (unless you take a winter class). After a long semester of taking 18 credit hours (six classes), I can't wait for December.
4. Cold Weather
Some people don't like cold weather. If you're anything like my grandmother, you head down south to the warm weather during the winter and come back in the Spring. Wearing sweatshirts and sweaters are one of the upsides of the cold weather and grabbing a cup of hot chocolate to warm you right up.
5. 2017
Everyone looks forward to the new year and I'm ready for 2017 (mainly because of graduation), but this isn't the case of a "new year, new me", but more of what new things can I do/try this year.
6. Christmas lights
Ahh yes, one of my favorite things about Christmas--the Christmas lights. Now, if you're like my dad, who leaves the lights on the bushes and tree all year long and brings out the reindeer, timer, and extension cord in December, then you won't have to deal with putting them up. I love seeing the dangling lights and the colorful lights, but when the snow covers the lights and you can see all these little light under the snow and it's so pretty.
7. Ugly sweaters
Those "ugly Christmas sweaters" are the Christmas card favorites. My mom has never made my brother and I do it, but he and I both love wearing ours. He has his reindeer one and I alternate between my snowman one and Seth Rollins one. No matter how lame and ugly the sweaters are, you always see them being worn in the department stores while you're out shopping.
8. Snow Days
When you get that call, email, text, etc. about the campus being closed, it's a wonderful feeling. You have another day to yourself to do whatever you want. Teachers even lowkey love it because it gives them a day to relax and catch up on some grading. The best part about snow days is that you have an actual reason for not going to school (or work).
9. ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas
This is way better than the 13 nights of Halloween. I'm not a person who likes horror movies. The only "horror movies I watch are Hocus Pocus and Monster's Inc/University. Cheesy Christmas movies are one of the things about Christmas that gets you in the Holiday spirit. Whether you watch Kevin McCallister or Disney's A Christmas Carol, the Christmas feeling gets you in the mood. ABC, NBC, CBS also play classics like, Rudolph and Frosty.
10. Family time
Families come together on the holidays and eat a big dinner and/or exchange gifts. The holidays are really the only time everyone can come together and being the youngest out of five children (even though I see one of my brothers all the time), it's really nice to see everyone on the holidays. I'm really looking forward to this holiday season.
