10 Things I'll (Not) Miss About High School

College classes are about to start, or they may have already started. Although I can picture all the stress that’s coming my way, it’s a nice reminder that high school is over. However, high school is supposed to be the “best days of our lives,” so here is a list of things I will miss with all of my heart from my high school experience.

1. Waking up at 6 a.m.

I love looking out my window to see the sun not out yet. It’s one of the best feelings in the world, I’d say.

2. The parking lot.

Parking half a mile away because all the good spots were taken, then walking past all of the kids who stay near their cars to do sketchy stuff? Sign me up!

3. The hallways.

It came with perks like people walking slow and standing in the middle of the hallway. But my favorite thing is when people stood right in front of my locker. I’ll miss that.

4. Dress code.

“Fingertips, ladies!” said the faculty as boys walk past, averting their eyes because our shoulders are distracting them.

5. The core classes.

Social studies? With a teacher who also doesn’t care about the class? Okay!

6. School lunches.

I especially like the lunches where you have no friends during that time, so you had to sit with Becky from homeroom because you can tolerate her. It’s also fun to see the cliques separate themselves from other cliques.

7. The drama.

Teenage girls love fighting with other teenage girls over Brad the quarterback, and hearing about it every day for two weeks is wonderful. I definitely didn’t have anything better to do in high school, so why not?

8. Hallway PDA.

It’s like watching “Fear Factor.” All the stuff you see is horrifying, but you can’t take your eyes off of it because it’s fascinating to watch. I enjoyed every detail of high school romances I’ve witnessed.

9. Standardized testing.

I mean, it’s obviously the best way to test the knowledge of the American school system students. Taking the ACT on a Saturday morning made me want to cry tears of joy!

10. Blocked, but innocent, websites.

Oh no, is Webkinz blocked? No biggie! At least the website where you can sell organs is still available. Thanks!

The list can go on and on. But in all seriousness, I will miss a few things about high school: all of my friends, all of the activities I was in, and a few classes with the best teachers in the world. Not to brag or anything, but the high school I went to was not that bad. In fact, it was great. I will probably miss the building itself, too.

Besides that, everything on the list is spot on. I will not miss any of the 10 items above, and that’s because college has more to offer for me. I can’t wait for classes to start.

So peace out, high school. I’m out of here.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
