10 Things I Hated Most About High School

High school did not prepare me for college at all.

I had my fun moments in high school, sure. I played sports, I had friends, I went to prom, but there were still things to this day that make me never want to relive high school. I'm not saying it was horrible, but high school most certainly was not the best time of my life. There were a few little things I liked about my school, but here are 10 things that I regularly had to deal with that I disliked even more:

1. Cliques

Everyone had their group of friends and didn't even bother talking to anyone else outside of their cliques. You couldn't even make new friends because you seen the same faces every day, and everybody already came to high school with their same friends from like freakin' kindergarten.

2. Group projects

I always got stuck being the group leader, and then when presenting, the people didn't even show up or bring their share of the project.

3. The teachers

Most of the teachers could not control their classroom and had no idea how to turn boring topics into interesting discussions. Their monotone voices made my best friend get drunk and set fires in class — true story.

4. Lunch

Smallest and hottest lunch room ever with kids running around and screaming. Oh yeah, and the dried pizza and infested fruit was my favorite part.

5. Student section at sports games

Nobody ever cheered. The students just stood there, and then when somebody actually screamed, everyone just stared at them like they were weird? Hello, do you know where you are standing?

6. When I missed a day

The teachers always gave me crap when I missed a day. If I ask for my missing assignment and I'm excused, they just stop right there with, "Well, you should have been here." My cat just died, leave me alone.

7. The courses...

Did not prepare me for college. That is all.

8. The Wi-Fi

This seems like a small issue, but it really was annoying. The Wi-Fi blocked all the sites and took two hours just to load a Google search — if it wasn't a blocked search that is.

9. Gym try-hards

Don't yell at me when I didn't catch the ball. I'm not hopping a fence and breaking an arm today to please you. What do you people think you're winning anyway, a trophy? An Olympian medal?

10. Substitutes

Please don't actually try to teach. News flash: You're in our classroom today. If you just sit there quietly at the desk, this hour will be peaceful for the both of us.

Just remember, it gets better. Also, I don't have to deal with half of these issues in college, which is heaven on Earth.
