It's Really a Love/Hate Relationship

On October 29, 2013, my life changed forever. For it was on that day that I began my tumultuous relationship with Netflix, quite possibly my one true love in life. We've had our ups and downs like any other couple, but it is with great sadness that I must announce our official break. We are hoping to resume our relationship stronger than ever, but recognize that some distance is needed. It's been hard these past few weeks. I'm hurt, confused, lost and lonely. The only way to get past this is to tell you why.

1. I hate the way you draw me in.

Your selection is overwhelmingly beautiful. I can stare into your possibilities for hours, just thinking of all of the different ways you can make me feel.

2. And the way you block me out.

You know exactly what I want, I know that you do. Yet, you continue to play these games with me. They hurt, they really do.

3. I hate the way you claim to know me so well.

Yes, I would love to watch the series you suggested, but why do you have to be so presumptuous all of the time? Can't you let me decide for myself once in a while?

4. Leaving me no room for approval or doubt.

Maybe I had something to do that day. Maybe I had a paper to write or a shift to work or a friend to see. I mean, obviously I was going to go on to the next episode, but it would have been nice if I could have decided on my own.

5. I hate it when you judge me.

Yes, I am still here. We play this game every night, I don't know when you will accept that this is who I am.

6. And even more when you go silent.

Maybe you needed space and I just couldn't see that. I thought we were closer than this.

7. I hate it when you keep tabs on me.

Is is necessary to have this ongoing list? How far will you go? Where does it end?

8. I hate it when you're violent.

This just isn't cool. I overlook you for one month, while you were off frolicking with whoever and I get punished?

9. But most of all, I hate the way you make me feel.

LifeAccordingToSteph, lifeaccordingtosteph.com/2013/07/if-you...

You've seen me at my highs and certainly at my lows. There have been tears of laughter and tears of sadness, days of stress and days of freedom. You've been there through everything.

10. And that I can't hate you, not ever, for real.

Let's be honest, I'm never going to hate you. We may be going through a rough patch right now, but I promise it will be for only a few short months.

So, world, judge us if you must. But know this: few ever get to experience a love like ours. It is your privilege that you get to witness it.

15 Times "Parks and Recreation" Summed Up Your Library Experience

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
