Up here in the coldest city in America, things can get pretty predictable. If you go to the University of North Dakota, here are 10 things that have probably never happened to you — and by never, I mean always.

1. You will never meet anyone from the "cities"

When you ask someone where they’re from, their response is usually not “down by the cities."

2. You will never try a grinder from Red Pepper

I guarantee you will never wait in line at two in morning for one. They’re not good, and the line is not worth the wait.

3. You will never have to walk to class in the middle of a blizzard

Class will ALWAYS be cancelled during a winter storm warning.

4. You will never have to worry about finding a parking spot on campus

You won’t drive around in circles waiting for someone to leave so you can jump on the parking spot. There is always plenty of parking.

5. You will never get blown across campus at the University of North Dakota because it is so windy

You won't experience winds over 15 mph.

6. You will never come home from the bars at two in the morning and order Deek’s Pizza

You will never lie about having a free breadsticks coupon.

7. You will never go to a hockey game

You will most likely never even step foot inside The Ralph.

8. You will never experience sub-zero temperatures

You won’t ever check the temperature and see that it is -30 degrees outside.

9. You will never make life-long friends

Chances are you won’t ever meet anyone that you can call your best friend.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time. I'm not complaining, because I'd rather have a whole week off than three days, but there is a lot of down time. Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.

For college students everywhere, Thanksgiving is a time to relax and not really worry about homework (well, depending on what major you're in).
