The most looked forward to, the most glorious week since school ended the year before; welcome week. The week of endless partying, sleeping in way too late and rekindling friendships with people you haven't seen in months. Although our parents don't want to even think about it- it's definitely one of the most looked forward to weeks of a college kids life. But....

But when that week is over, everyone has to realize that they're going back into real life, aka actually having to pay attention in their classes. After welcome/syllabus week, we all have to go back to actually paying attention, and go to class.

In all reality, there are some things that happens for all college students once welcome week is over..

1. The panic of school actually starting.. You know, everything has due dates and there's tests coming up. And the truly worst part of it is thinking about your GPA and how to not mess it up.

2. The realization that you won't have another week as fun as this one until homecoming.

3. The three loads of laundry that you'll have to do before the next week of school.

4. Instead of getting ready at 9pm to go out, you now need to pull up the sweatpants and sit at your desk. And the worst part of that is now all the studying you will have to endure this semester.

5. On the upside of things, tailgates and athletic events are going to start very soon. Even if someone is not one to participate in tailgating, the thoughts of football games can make just about any person excited for school to officially start.

6. If you haven't already, you'll start going to the gym. Everyone doesn't wanna gain the freshman (or sophomore, junior or senior) 15. Although if you're like me, it won't last for long but at least you're trying to get back into maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

7. Your late nights of hanging out with your friends until 2 am are turned into late nights at the library with all of your textbooks, and most likely zero friends.

8. It's now socially acceptable to FaceTime your parents, siblings and animals. No one is gonna look down on you for FaceTiming your dog while walking to class because they're probably pulling out their phone to call their own family.

9. Since you have looked forward to Welcome Week for a while, you now can look forward to fall weather. Nothing like some flannels, PSL's, and watching leafs change colors.

10. And most importantly, many student's bodies get a break.

Whether it be from drinking, or just from getting accustomed to walking a mile to classes- you finally get a break. You get a weekend to chill out.. But that also means the weeks coming up will be the start of lectures, quizzes, and projects. At least your liver gets a break right??

It's such an amazing week, no matter what you participate in. I truly love this week because I am now back with my amazing friends that I made at an amazing university.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
