The first week of classes in January things are usually pretty hectic and crazy. The roads are packed, the bookstore line is endless and the money spent on Ubers around 2 am is exorbitant.

While syllabus week can be a lot of fun and may even be relaxing, sometimes it is super stressful. Sometimes just driving into Gainesville you can feel the stress of being back for another semester. Here are 10 things that happen this week at UF.

1. The gym is packed.

I learned my lesson freshman year that I cannot go to the gym the first week of classes in January. The lines are insane because everyone's new year's resolutions are to "lose weight" or "get fit" or "go to the gym" this year. If I need to work out this week, I do it at my apartment or outside.

2. There is almost no one on campus early.

It's been three days that I am on campus at 9 am and absolutely no one is inside certain buildings. For the first hour or so, it's been me and a few others actually sitting around.

3. Finding parking is a nightmare.

This is always true but it's even more true the first week of school. People need to buy things and grab things on campus so it's usually horrible trying to park.

4. You see all of your friends.

You run into everyone you didn't get to see over break and it takes up so much time. I've talked for hours already this week after running into a bunch of friends all at once.

5. You drink ridiculous amounts of coffee.

Since I have a night class this semester, it's already happened to me but this week I love my coffee. We run around drinking good coffee because we are still exhausted even though we haven't gotten into the grind yet.

6. You don't do any homework.

Who wants to do homework after three weeks off? We regret this next week sometimes, but for now its nice to relax (sort of).

7. Stalking drop/add is a part of your life.

I've done this way too many times to count. When you need a class, stalking drop/add becomes your life.

8. There's time to actually cook meals.

I've been able to use my kitchen this week and feel healthy instead of eating out.

9. You get cool rides from UF President Fuchs.

In case you haven't seen the video on Facebook or Twitter, President Fuchs drove around in a golf cart on Monday giving students free rides. It's safe to say we are obsessed with him.

10. It's the one week you can really have fun.

We all want to enjoy the semester, but some weeks and even months it is impossible. This is the one week every semester we can be a little more relaxed and enjoy ourselves.

8 Stereotypes Sorority Girls Are Tired Of Hearing

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
