Every so often, we are blessed with a glorious long weekend, but sometimes it is too short to travel far. If you live in Georgia, there are a variety of places to visit if you are searching for a simple one-day outing. From busy cities to historic museums to beautiful nature, there are activities for every type of person. The countless activities easily allow for a full weekend vacation close to home!

1. Georgia Aquarium

Located in downtown Atlanta, the Georgia Aquarium is the biggest aquarium on the Western Hemisphere. With over 500 species, you are guaranteed the ultimate underwater experience!

2. Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain is the perfect all day adventure, for hiking in the day to the Lasershow Spectacular at night allows you to experience a variety of activities.

3. Centennial Olympic Park

Created for the 1996 Summer Olympics, Centennial Olympic Park is the largest downtown park in the country. You can visit the Fountain of Rings, walk your dog and simply enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends!

4. Savannah

In 1733, James Oglethorpe founded Savannah, the first city in Georgia. Naturally, Savannah is full of rich history from colonial times, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. River Street, one of the most iconic destinations, is known for its unique boutiques, local restaurants and sweet candy shops.

5. Blue Ridge Mountains

If you are looking to connect with nature, you can visit the beautiful rolling hills in Blue Ridge. If you rent a cabin, you can easily spend your weekend hiking, going to the lake and just breathing the fresh mountain air.

6. Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia offers you a full day of thrills and fun with their adrenaline-pumping rides! With attractions for all ages, Six Flags is an incredibly family friendly amusement park.

7. Augusta National Golf Club

As home of the Masters, Augusta National Golf Club is the perfect location for all golf lovers! With beautiful, bright green courses and skilled players to compete with, you are sure to have a good time.

8. Lake Lanier Islands

A day on the lake is the ideal summer outing, and Lake Lanier offers boat rentals so you can make the most of this magnificent man-made lake. LanierWorld, their incredible water park facility, has rides for all ages from infants to adults.

9. Tybee Island

Tybee Island, located off the coast of Savannah, is a small, beautiful beach for those who enjoy the sunshine. In addition to regular beach activities, you can visit the Tybee Lighthouse and Fort Pulaski.

10. Sanford Stadium

For all the sports lovers out there, Sanford Stadium at University of Georgia is the place to be to cheer on your favorite team!

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
