It is easy to focus on our every day struggles when we are constantly stressed and tired. Our responsibilities weigh us down as we go through life. We are always being pulled in different directions, and have little time to focus our attention on others. Often, our priorities get mixed up. We no longer focus on the people around us, but instead we focus on ourselves. It is important that we remember the people that we love, because they are the ones who bring light to our cloudy days. Here are 10 things we forget to tell our loved ones.

1. Thank you

Thank you for always being there for me, even when I cannot be there for you. Thank you for supporting my dreams and aspirations, because not everyone believed in me. Thank you for your help, because I cannot do everything on my own.

2. I Love you

You have always been there for me, through the good times and bad times. You have never let me down, and always know how to cheer me up. I love you.

3. I appreciate you

I know I do not say this enough, but I appreciate everything that you do. You have a busy life, but manage to always have time for me. You are someone I can rely on, and I am thankful for that.

4. I am here for you

If you ever need anything, I am here for you. You are a friend, a loved one, and someone that I care about a lot. I will stick by your side, I will be there to help you, and I will always have time for you. We are not perfect, and that is okay. I care about you regardless. I will always be there for you.

5. You are important

Never feel as though you do not serve a purpose in this world. You are important to your family, friends, and the people who look up to you. The things that you do, impact others. You deserve to be considered, and you deserve to be heard.

6. I care about you

No matter what, I will always care about you. Even when I am angry, I still care. I will always worry about you, and think about you. I will never stop caring.

7. You can do anything

You can do anything you set your mind to. You have the ability to make this world an amazing place, and to follow the dreams that you wish to pursue. Do not regret the things you could have done. You are capable of doing it all.

8. I am sorry

I am sorry for the mistakes I have made, and the feelings I have hurt. You are a loved one, and I care about your feelings. We can get past this, and learn from it.

9. I forgive you

We all make mistakes, and those mistakes are not always easy to forgive. However, you are someone that I love and care about. Even though forgiveness is hard, I could not live the rest of my life being mad at you. I forgive you.

10. Everything will be okay

You are going to face some hard times in your life, but it will get better. You have people like me to look out for you, and care for you. You will make memories, and experience greater things in this world. You are not alone. Everything will be okay.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
