As September ticks along, the excitement for Autumn continues to grow. The first thing that many people think of when they hear of fall is the ever famous PSL (pumpkin spiced latte). However, with the pumpkin spice craze starting earlier than ever and with more foods and drinks flavored that way, the countdown to fall has begun. Let us peek into the future and see what all the fall hype is about.

1. No More Bugs

As the weather cools down, bugs seem to slowly disappear. This is a blessing to those of us who are prone to pesky, itchy, bug bites. Also, it means we find fewer bugs in our rooms that we have to kill!

2. Sweater Weather

Speaking of cooler weather, one of the best parts of Fall is the wardrobe change. Cozy sweaters, jeans, leggings, fuzzy socks, boots, and scarves are all getting good use again. There is nothing better than wearing an oversized sweater with leggings and fuzzy socks - so comfortable.

3. Fall Activities

The Fall season allows us to do cute, fun activities such as going pumpkin and apple picking, finding corn mazes, beer festivals, hayrides, and haunted houses. There is so much to do in the Fall months that every weekend could be booked with something new and exciting.

4. Halloween

Halloween is one of the best things about the fall. Who doesn't like an excuse to dress up and eat candy? In addition to that, there are always great movie marathons going on for the entire month of October. Most of the time it is usually horror movies, but you can usually catch Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown at least a few times!

5. Bonfires

Bonfires are a great social alternative to sitting inside and just hanging out. You are able to feel the warmth of the fire and make s'mores all while being with your friends. The bonfire smell on your clothes afterwards isn't half bad either.

6. Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving might come at the end of the season, but it is still one of the best parts of the Fall. You get to spend time with all of your loved ones and eat delicious food. In addition to that, you get time off of school also. There is really no complaining when it comes to this holiday.

7. Football

Football season is huge and a big part of Fall culture. From high school football games to college to the NFL, fall is where it all begins and everyone gets hyped. Start making the dip now for your football parties!

8. Hockey

Even though it might seem like Ice Hockey is a winter sport, the season actually starts in October! This might seem crazy but hockey fans all over the nation are rejoicing that the season is starting up again in just a little over a month.

9. Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate is a delicacy that is enjoyed when the weather is cooled down. There is nothing better than drinking a nice cup of Hot Chocolate on your way to class in the morning or at night while watching your favorite movies.

10. TV shows

Last, but definitely not least, Fall TV returns. All of our favorite shows on primetime networks generally return in the fall. Things like Modern Family, American Horror Story, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds and so much more are all starting up again in just a matter of weeks. Let the countdown to fighting over the remote begin!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
