10 Things Everyone Misses About College In The Summer

Fall semester can't come soon enough.

After finishing my first year of college, I was excited to take a break and spend some much-needed relaxation time to myself. But after a short month, I already want to go back. The truth is, if you aren't even the slightest bit upset about not being on campus, then you're not in the right school.

If you do find yourself longing for days back on campus, these are just 10 of countless reasons why you might miss school:

1. You can't barge into your best friends' dorm rooms every day.

It's comforting to know that your friends are less than a 5-minute walk away when you need something.

2. Football and other sports seasons.

There's nothing like a college sporting event. It's too difficult to describe the excitement roaring through the stands each game day. Whether it's football, soccer, basketball, or lacrosse, the support from the student body is endless.

3. Philanthropy.

Because what makes you feel better than helping someone else who needs it more than you?

4. Your parents don't watch your every move.

This is a big one. I love you mom and dad, but you really need to let me start doing my own thing. Technically, I am an adult now.

5. Restaurants only available in your college town.

There's nothing more special than ordering your favorite food late at night with your best friends after a long night out.

6. Partying at home just isn't the same.

It's much easier to be able to walk to the parties or take Ubers with your friends, as opposed to having to figure out who's going to drive each night.

7. Being lazy and not getting yelled at for it.

This is basically self-explanatory.

8. Having food ready for you whenever you want it.

Although the typical dining hall food may be terrible, it's a lot easier to order out than it is to cook and clean up after yourself.

9. Knowing what you're going to do every day.

It actually is hard to get up in the morning without knowing what class you're going to that day or which party you're going to that night. Without my weekly meetings scheduled, I am a wreck.

10. Your roommate.

The constant support and laughs definitely don't go unnoticed. Nothing beats making memories with your best friend.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
