If you grew up in Franklin County, Tennessee you know there are just some things that have and will never change:
10. Sewanee
The cross, the college, the mountain, the natural bridge. So much awesome in this little town. Also, nine times out of ten you took your senior prom pictures somewhere on that mountain. If you didn't, you definitely know a billion people who did.
9. "Going to town"
And by "town", we really just mean the boulevard. Even if you live five minutes away, once you hit the boulevard you're "going to town"
8. The Square
While it may be the hardest thing ever to navigate if you're from out of town, we pride ourselves on our little "hometown square."
7. The Oldham
It's been here literally since the beginning of time it feels like. Once you see it though, you get this feeling of home. PLUS, if you were ever a teen in this county you probably had one of your first dates at this little old theater. It was also featured in a Miranda Lambert video one time, yep it's a big deal.
6. The Drive-In
Your first date may have been at the Oldham, but once you got a car, the Drive-In it was. I didn't even realize how rare these guys are until I moved away for college.
5. Bloody Martys
Nope, we couldn't tell you what is in this sweet heavenly concoction created at Bennett's Pharmacy, but gosh do we love it.
4. FESTIVALS
High On The Hog, Dogwood, Music By The Lake, Fall Heritage Festival, the list could go on and on. Name a season, holiday, or even random Saturday in this county and I am sure we have a festival going on.
3. Hometown Rivalries
In middle school, it was North vs. South (yes, just North and South, nothing comes after that) and in high school it's Huntland vs. FCHS (even though we don't even play each other). There's always a competitive feeling in the air come Fall.
2. WALMART PARKING LOT
This one pretty much goes without speaking. We've all done it. If you're the older generation, my dad says y'all "cruised the boulevard." Same concept, when there isn't a whole lot to do in the town, you make do.
1. Love
.I grew up my entire life in a town and community that has always made me want to come back home. I've seen this town do amazing things. I've seen us care for others, pick people up when they're down, and come together whenever tragedy strikes. As Justin Moore singe, "I'm proud to say I love this place, Good ole small town USA."
