No matter where you go, or where you're from, any student who attends college away from their home can most definitely relate to these 10 happenings when being home again!

1. SLEEP - Zzz

There's nothing better than returning to your own bed! And not to mention the luxury of a perfectly controlled climate that is just ideal for sleeping... Unlike that broken thermostat in your dorm!

2. DRIVING

Watch out everybody! You haven't been behind the wheel in awhile, but man is driving one of the first things you want to do after being restrained to a college campus and forced to walk everywhere!

3. Go to your favorite local spot - Coffee Shop, Sandwich Joint, etc.

Ahhh, there's nothing like venturing back to your usual spot for an actual good cup of coffee, bagel, etc. while catching up with some old friends who are just bound to be there as well! For me, living in N. Kingstown Rhode Island, my "spot" is Jitters Cafe.

4. Spend time with your family - FAM(ILY)

Yeah, remember those little s*** heads that used to constantly get on your nerves and whom you couldn't wait to get a little break from? Well- chances are you miss 'em like crazy and being together after a long period of time is awesome! Also, it's almost a guarantee you and your siblings relationship will be near-to-perfect the first few days you're back together...But give it a week and you'll all be back to the usual bickering, which will simply make you feel more at home and oddly make your parents or guardians smile knowing the whole clan is back together!

5. Play with your pets.

Essentially a sibling, but one that will never give you attitude and always make you smile! You never quite realize how much you miss your pet(s) until you are apart from their constantly loving affection and when reunited with them you will spend a lot of time playing with them- walks, frisbee, etc. and giving them a little extra-treats that week despite your parents or guardians digression!

6. Eat your favorite home-cooked meal.

It doesn't matter if you're the only one in the family that likes this meal, but whatever this meal is you bet your parents or guardians are making it for you!

7. Also, eat at a nice restaurant.

Along with the home-cooked meal of choice, your family may also allow you...or more like you will persuade them...into taking you out for a really nice meal at one of your favorite restaurants. Quality food, ambiance, and what's best is it's free.

8. Utilize the couch and TV (specifically DVR) privileges.

Ahh the couch, decrypted, fart-ridden piece of very comfortable furniture most homes have ever so conveniently placed right in front of the best TV in the house. You never realize the simple luxury of the couch until you are away at college looking for a place to kick back and watch TV- other than that damn twin XL in your 11x11 prison cell of a dorm. And to top it off, most homes have at least one TV with DVR so all those shows you've been missing while at school you can binge watch as much as you want when on break!

9. Go visit your friends at the state school and have a little TOO much fun.

I mean, you just can't go a week without partying and what's a better time than your state school?! Chances are you probably have a few friends that go to school nearby and are not on break...so we all know what that means: Time to pretend you also attend the state school and/or time to show 'em how people from your school do it! ...And although you usually end up making a fool of yourself in front of a bunch of strangers, who cares!

10. Realize how content you are with your school of choice.

Being home is great, but after just a short while you find yourself actually wanting to go back to school. This makes you realize how happy you are with your life and your choice to attend the specific college or university that you do.

The "bittersweet" departure of returning to school makes you appreciate your life and be thankful for such good family members and friends both at home and away.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
