Making a list makes everything a little bit better.

There’s people who make a list to go to the grocery, and then there’s people who make a list for the grocery, the next three hours, things to get done this week, projects to work on for the month, books to read for the next seven years, and have already started one for tomorrow.

Some think all of these lists are total madness and would stress someone out with all of the unchecked boxes, but honestly, lists keep us going. When we’re stressed we make more lists and it makes us feel better. If you’re a list keeper, here are 10 things you can relate to — and if you’re not a list keeper, here are 10 thoughts to get you started along the path of endless sticky notes and steno pads.

1. You feel a little extra loved when you’re stressed and someone who knows you asks, “Have you made a list yet?”

2. Buying steno pads, or any notepads for that manner, is a process.

Not any general pad will cut it.

3. Cleaning out any purse, bag or backpack is like a flow of random lists and thoughts scribbled all over the back of receipts, napkins, gum wrappers or any other possible white space.

4. Planners are important.

You can’t just randomly go out and purchase the first one you see. You’ve probably found one brand that you like and have bought the exact same kind for the past five years.

5. Watching people observe your desk, office, work space, etc. is amusing because they try to read all of the post-its stuck to every open space without being obvious about it.

6. Planning ahead is a must, there is no room in your life for “playing it by ear,” because frankly it makes you nervous.

You need to know what you’re going to be doing each day a week at least a day (or seven) in advance.

7. Checking things off of any list gives you the feeling that you just conquered life.

8. You have both a calendar and a planner because one or the other just doesn’t cut it.

9. You’re completely baffled by people who don’t use your method of list making because you have no idea how they keep track of everything.

10. You say “I have that written down somewhere” more often than you’d like to admit.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
