10 Things I Should Have Done During Break

Other than watching Netflix I did basically none of these things, but I really should have.

Winter break is a time for winding down, relaxing after the stressful semester, and to have fun. Although winter break was great, there are many things I should have done during it. But did I? No. So here are some things that I should have done this winter break that does not include watching Netflix.

1. Built A Snowman

It has been years since I’ve gone outside and played in the snow. I can’t even remember the last time I did. The least I could have done is just gone outside and made a snow angel or something. But I guess that would’ve been a lot of work.

2. Taken a road trip

I am only going to be a college student once. I should have used almost a month off of school to take a short trip to somewhere new, but I guess I would rather spend my money on half-off apps at Applebee’s instead.

3. Read a book

Instead of letting my mind turn to mush because of the hours of Netflix I decided I needed in my life, I should have spent that time reading.

4. Gone sledding

Why would I ever want to go outside and do something super fun during winter break when I could sit inside and watch Netflix and think about how bored I am? Smart, right?

5. Spent more time with friends and family

Although I did have my fair share of time with my family and friends during winter break, I always wish I could’ve had more time with them.

6. Cleaned my room

You can tell I’ve been a hermit and watching Netflix for a month, that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

7. Saved money

I want to take so many road trips and do so many new things, but I think life’s temptations (meaning Sephora and Ulta) got in the way.

8. Gotten a tattoo

I’ve been saving up to get a tattoo for a while now, and I know what I want to get, but I just haven’t gone to get it. Winter break would’ve been the perfect opportunity, but why would I be that smart?

9. Tried something I’ve never tried before

I had the perfect opportunity to try something new like snowboarding, cross country skiing, anything. But instead, I needed Netflix in my life. Shocker.

10. Started a new show on Netflix

Well, I guess if the only thing I saw fit for my entire winter break was watching Netflix, I could have at least started a new show I’ve never watched before, rather than re-watching the shows I’ve already watched a million times. But oh well, there’s always next year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
