While some of you may be going home this spring break, a few of us are staying in here in the city. Since I live in Northern Virginia, my friends and I take short trips to DC all the time. Here are some of our favorite things to do, in case you ever get bored:
1. Spend a day "monumenting"
Although most of us have gone "monumenting" before, it's never a bad idea to check them out on a warm, spring day. We love walking along National Mall and ending our trip at the Lincoln Memorial.
2. Hang out on M Street

3. Find Your Favorite Coffee Shop
If you don't like coffee, skip this. But now's the perfect time to hunt for a new study spot. Check out Tryst Coffeehouse in Adams Morgan, Busboys and Poets (the one on Mt. Vernon Square is my favorite), or Compass Coffee near Howard, to name a few.
4. Sunday Brunch at Open City at the National Cathedral

5. Kayak, canoe, or paddleboard on the Potomac
This is a popular summer activity, but that doesn't mean you can't do it during the spring too. There're tons of private renting companies along Georgetown Waterfront you can check out. Go with around 4 people and you're bound to get a discount.
6. Check out Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe at Dupont Circle
Definitely, check this place out if you're a bookworm. Not only is there a huge selection of books, there's a cozy cafe in the back where you can read and sip coffee. I always end up buying at least one book and eating a slice of pie.
7. Walk through the U.S. Botanic Garden
There's plenty of Insta opportunities here. Take a picture of the colorful flowers in the Garden Court, or enter The Tropics located in the dome (you won't miss this exhibit, I promise).
8. Visit the Smithsonian National Zoo
This is a fun-for-all-ages trip. Remember that adorable video of Bei Bei rolling around in the snow? You can finally see him in real life at the panda house!
9. Work in the Kogod Courtyard
It's spacious, beautiful, and artistic. Located in the National Portrait Gallery, it's the perfect place to sit down and do any work you have (which I hope isn't a lot). Oh, did I mention there's free wifi? Definitely check this place out.
10. Go to U Street at night
You won't be bored here. Go on a Friday or Saturday, and you'll be sure to find a cool place to chill, whether it be a bar, restaurant, or club. Check out 9:30 Club's schedule to see if there are any events you're interested in.
