10 Things College Students Should Do During Spring Break

I know that after the cold winter and endless assignments, Spring break can't come soon enough. Here are some productive, fun ways to enjoy the time off:

1) Relax

You just had midterms and I'm sure your brain is fried, so take this week to recuperate from that constant stress. Take as many naps as you need, watch as much Netflix as your eyes allow, or sit neck-deep in a warm bath. Whatever will get you in healthy mindset to ace the second half of the semester is definitely a spring break must do.

2) Spend time with friends

Let's be real, by the time spring break roles around you're missing your friends from home like crazy. Make sure you make time to see your friends. It's gonna be so nice to catch up on everything that happened since winter break. You could do everything you used to do, and all the stuff it was too cold to do during winter break! You aren't together everyday anymore, have fun until the nights become mornings.

3) Start taking stuff home from your dorm

After countless shopping trips with your friends or just finally being free with a debit card, somehow you have more items than you started college with. It's gonna be insane trying to take it all back at once. Maybe just take back heavy winter clothing, or just things you know you won't wear! Either way, it will make your final departure way less stressful.

4) Finish!

College can be very stressful, and it's understandable that some tasks might have been put on the back burner. Spring Break is the perfect time to finish any projects or responsibilities that have been neglected. Make sure you don't overwork yourself though, this is a time for relaxation!

5) Go home with a school friend

Our friends we make in college become like a little family and even just a week away can be hard. if you're looking for some change or adventure, go home with one of your friends. You'll be able to see where they came from and what their life outside of school is like. You guys can visit all of the attractions their area has to offer. It can be a real bonding experience.

6) Read

Reading is required for a lot of college courses, so reading for leisure can be neglected during the semester. I personally feel that reading is very important. Try reading a novel over break, just to keep your mind sharp and ready to jump back into classes. If you don't want to read something long and involved, try keeping up with a blog or magazine articles!

7) Spring cleaning

I'm sure this doesn't sound appealing, but it has to be done. Throw away anything you haven't touched since high school and make room for everything you bought during school (haha). Maybe change the furniture in your room from home, anything to create some change. It will make you feel so much better and organized.

8) Spend time outside

WINTER IS FINALLY ENDING and everything is in bloom. It's finally warm enough to spend time outside, so explore! Go for a hike or a long bike ride. Get back in touch with nature and let the beautiful weather brighten your mood. A walk in the sun can easily relax anyone.

9) Spend time with family

As important as your friends are, your family should be even more. Between hiking adventures, cleaning, or going out with friends make sure to have nice sit down dinners with your family. As much as you miss your family, they miss you just as much. Take this time to update them on your life and remind them how much they mean to you.

10) Get ready for summer

Don't forget that after spring break is over, Summer is right around the corner! Break out the bathing suits and sun tan lotion! When you're at home, unpack all of the cute crop tops and sandals that were put away during the bitter winter. Keep an ear out for those summer jams and an eye out for cute summer trends.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
