There are a lot of things to do in Bloomington, Indiana. Home of the Hoosiers. A lot of the time people complain about being bored and having nothing to do but that isn't the case. Bloomington is full of fun things to do and adventures to be had. There is no reason to sit in your bedroom watching Netflix when there is still a lot to be discovered about B-Town.

1. Go to an IU basketball game

Bloomington is known for Hoosier basketball. If you come in the winter/spring time it is basketball season and the town gets definitely excited for basketball.

2. Visit the Lilly Library

The Lilly Library, located on campus, holds original manuscripts, real Oscars, original sheet music, and so much more! You'll have to visit to find all the treasures in this library.

3. Eskenazi Museum of Art

Although the Art Museum will be shutting down due to some reconstruction, there's a variety of exhibits that people can see alongside an awesome gift shop and cafe (they have great customer service).

4. Griffy Lake

Only about a fifteen-minute drive from downtown, Griffy Lake is a great place to get away from technology and enjoy the peacefulness of the great outdoors. There are several hiking trails and places to hang out around the lake. You can also skate and go ice fishing in the winter, or swim and canoe in the summer! A great place to visit all year round.

5. Mother Bears

This is one of the best pizza places in the country and this is not just my opinion! If pizza isn't your thing they have wings, fries, and salads. They have amazing deals and it is always so fun being able to write on the booths!

6. Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower

Feel like climbing up 110 feet? Well, this is a must for you! At some point during your time in Bloomington, it is necessary to visit the lookout tower. It is a beautiful view (especially in the fall) of the nature and wilderness of Bloomington and takes you off campus.

7. Hoosier National Forest

This forest is actually located at the same place as the lookout tower. Different hiking trails, cabins, camping, fishing, hunting and just being in the presence of nature.

8. Lake Monroe

The lake that is known to be the largest situated lake in Indiana. Once again a place you can go away from campus. There's fishing, camping, swimming, canoeing and many more things to do.

9. Shopping on Kirkwood

Kirkwood Avenue is where it is at for all things food and shopping. Several cute, local boutiques and fun places to eat! Lots of variety on Kirkwood too.

10. Indiana University Campus

Anything on IU's campus is worth visiting. There are so many beautiful spots on campus and it's best to visit on the weekends when fewer people are around.

Ten things to do in Bloomington, Indiana, whether you live here and don't know what to do one weekend or even if you're just visiting, there are all must-do's!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
