10 Things My Big And Twin Do For Me That I Am Grateful For

Sisterhood is indescribable.

10 Things My Big And Twin Do For Me That I Am Grateful For

Unless you're in a sorority, it's really difficult to explain the unconditional loving bonds that are created through the sisterhood that you've chosen to devote your life to. Going into a sorority, I was looking forward to this sense of togetherness. I knew that when the time came, I wanted a "Big" that I could relate to and go to when I needed anything. My "Big" has completely exceeded my expectations and has done so much for me. Little did I know that I would also be blessed with the most amazing "Twin," who is my person inside and out.

After two months of being in this family, here are the top ten things that my family has done for me.

1. Provided unconditional support and love: No matter the situation, I know that I can go to these two for anything and they will always support and love me for whichever decision I make.

2. They provide a completely judgement-free zone: I know that whether it's eating a ton of food, doing something silly, or the decisions I make, they will not judge me (and most of the time, they join in).

3. They provide encouragement: No matter how down on myself I may be, or discouraged, they encourage me to always be the best person I can be.

4. They share my love for food: Whether out to dinner, at the dining hall, or in our suites, we all eat the same food. We can eat a lot and no one cares.

5. They rant with me: Over text or in person, we are able to rant to each other about everything, and it makes us feel better in the end... or more stressed.

6. They give me really good advice: No matter the situation, I know that if I am conflicted about anything, I could get really good advice (whether I want to hear it or not).

7. They drive around with me: No matter the destination, whether its around campus or to go look at puppies, I know that I have them to come for a drive with me.

8. They're honest: Whether I like it, or not, they are honest and I need that in my life. Their honesty helps me look at life differently and make better decisions. Even if its just about an outfit...

9. They get me: Wanting a night in, having no words for my emotions, or not forming complete and proper sentences, they get me when other people don't.

10. Most importantly, they're my people when I've really needed them and even when I don't know what I want.

I am so lucky to have these people in my life and they continue to surprise me every single day. I appreciate all of my sisters for being role models to me, helping me hold myself to the highest standard, and pushing me to exceed the expectation. For all of these reasons and many more, I appreciate this sisterhood - especially my Big and Twin. More than anything, I cannot wait to see our family grow.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
