Not being a car ride away from your best friend for the first time in years is an extremely hard adjustment. Sleepovers, food dates, and hangouts are no longer possible at any moment because of college. Obviously we need to keep each other up to date on our college lives, so thank god for Facetime, Snapchat, and iMessage.

1. OMG so last night...

Of course after a crazy night out, the best person to vent to is your best friend, no matter how far away she is. You can always count on her to give you her opinion on your stories, no matter how crazy they are.

2. Can you come visit me already?!

Yeah, so what? Just cause its the beginning of the semester doesn't mean you can't visit me! I want you to meet my new friends, come out with me, eat with me, watch movies with me and hang out with me just like the good old high school days! The drive here is only 4+ hours without traffic...

.

3. Sooo, any cute boys?

It's imperative to get the approval from your best friend first. But when it comes time to show her a picture of him... PLEASE TRUST ME, he's better looking in person!

4. Should I insta this?

When in need of an honest opinion I know i can count on my best friend to let me know if a picture is insta-worthy, and if it is I'm definitely going to need help making good caption!

5. I HAVE SO MUCH SCHOOL WORK TO DO.

We're not in high school anymore... It's good to know were both drowning in work, it makes me feel a little better knowing my best friend is spending just as many hours stu(dying) as I am.

6. You would LOVE the girls I met here!

We would definitely both love each of our new friends. Of course, I'm super happy we both made awesome new friends at college.....but my best friend will always be my number one.

7. *Sends a picture of outfit for the night*

Since I can't have you physically here to help me pick out an outfit for the night, don't be alarmed when you receive 10 picture text messages asking which outfit is best. I'll forever stay wishing I could have borrowed that cute top you have, but unfortunately, that's not possible right now.

8. I miss your family/dog.

Your besties family and pets are your second family. Leaving them was definitely just as hard as leaving your own family. Having a second mom and some extra dogs in your life never hurt anybody!

9. FACETIME ME!

Sometimes texting just isn't enough! It's always ten times easier to tell a story or get an opinion from your best friend through facetime. You can see her reaction on things and it's just so much easier to go on rants about anything and everything that you need talk about.

10. I miss you.

Life's not always easy without your partner in crime by your side. Distance from your best friend is not fun, but it makes you realize how much you really love her.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
