Those of us who are chronic worriers are constantly bombarded with frustrating phrases such as the ever-dreaded "relax." Us anxiety-ridden people don't know how to relax. In fact, our anxiety is normal for us and the last thing we need is to "take a deep breath." Next time your friend is freaking out, here are 10 things NOT to say.
1. "You can't worry about what you can't change."![]()

2. "Tomorrow you'll think about this and laugh."![]()
Okay, but I'm not laughing now, soo...
3. "Worrying doesn't solve anything."
It doesn't? Okay, let me just shut this off then.
4. "Calm down."![]()
Nah, I prefer to hyperventilate and cry.
5. "It's all in your head."![]()
So now I'm a mental patient?
6. "Take a deep breath."
Because apparently that solves everything?
7. "Just relax."![]()
Oh, I didn't think about that! Thanks so much for your insights!
8. "Tomorrow is a new day."![]()
Cool, let me just reschedule this freak-out for another day.
9. "Stop thinking about it."![]()
*turns off brain*
10. "Are you okay?"![]()
What do you think?
