The holiday season isn't the only time I am thankful for the amazing things in my life.

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, of course. Some people have more to be thankful for than others. As a person with many things to be thankful for, I found ten things I am most thankful for and will continue to be thankful for even after the holiday is over.

1. My family.

I have the best family in the world. I know everyone says that. But, my family is always there when I need them and always supportive in all my holes and dreams. I will always be thankful to have a close and amazing family that I was so lucky to be blessed with.

2. My Health.

Although not always in the best shape, my health has always been good. I am able to do many things that others can't do due to their health. I am relatively healthy, everyone in my family is healthy, and that is something many people aren't able to say. Making me thankful not only for the health I have now, but the ability to keep that good health.

3. My Education.

There are many people in this world and even the country that don't get the chance to further their education. Some people that won't be able to fulfill their dreams. So I am thankful to have the ability and tools I need to be able to further my education and make my dreams come true.

4. Support from Others.

Life is tough when you don't have support from others. Almost impossible to do anything without others by your side. I wouldn't be able to go through one day of college without my family and friends supporting me every step of the way.

5. Everyday Daily Essentials (food, clothes, housing).

Many people go without the many essentials I take for granted. But, recently looking at the amount of people that go without food, water, clean clothes and housing breaks my heart. Realizing the wonderful essentials that I have every day makes me forever thankful.

6. My Pets.

Nothing is better than coming home and snuggling my pets. My two cats warm up any cold day.

7. Laughter.

Laughter can brighten a room in seconds. Without laughter, the world would be a very sad place. There is nothing in the world I love more than making people laugh or laughing myself. In makes the rooms alive, and there is no mood a joke can't make better.

8. Sunshine.

Nothing brings up my mood better than seeing the sun shining. It can bring any mood to a better one. Forever thankful to see that star shining bright in the sky.

9. Clean Water.

I have the ability to not only shower and wash my face in clean water but the ability to drink it too. Many people don't have that type of access, so I am thankful for this amenity that I have access to in my life.

10. Pain and Tears.

Without pain, it would be hard to appreciate the many joy's we feel in life. With pain and tears, we are able to be more thankful for the happiness and laughter. We seem to appreciate things when we don't experience them for a period of time. So, through the hurt and sadness, we appreciate the happiness. Forever thankful to be able to experience these emotions and learn from them.

Through the holiday season, we spend a lot of time saying what we are thankful for and buying gifts for those we love. My goal is to try to keep that spirit going through the whole year because I am not only thankful for the many things in life during the holiday season but everyday of my life.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
